 gloryseeking anatomists

10.V.2004 :::: 12.25

this evening i will be tested on my knowledge of the special senses & other nervy things, so naturally i spent all weekend gardening slash re-reading harry potter books.

i am not particularly good at gardening, i act more as a sous-jardinire to bean, but it's nice to be barefoot in the clean dirt. there are two nests (sparrows'?) in the eaves of next-door & i'm all late-spring-feverish over the tiny high sounds of the yet-unseen new birds.

i like especially to handle the seeds & the packets of seeds.

here on the other hand, not nearly as pleasant as seeds, is a sample of what i was trying to make myself read last night.

The easiest way to remember which nerves serve which synovial joint is to use Hilton's law which says: Any nerve serving a muscle that produces movement at a joint also innervates teh jonit and the skin over the joint. Hence, once you learn whcih nerves serve the various major muscles and muscle groups, no new learning is necessary. For example, the knee is crossed by the quadriceps, gracilis, and hamstring muscles. The nerves to these muscles are the femoral nerve anteriorly and branches of the sciatic and obturator nerve posteriorly. Consequently, these nerves innervate the knee joint as well.

okay whom do i pretend to kid? i'm a sucker for this kind of talk. i love hilton's law. i love all things named after gloryseeking anatomists.
