i was digging through some old emails in my outbox & found this, 27.X.2002:
the other day i was thinking about the wright brothers (this is easy to do when your state license plates say "birthplace of aviation") and i thought, you know, if i grew up in a place this damn flat i'd think about reaching up into the sky, too.when i was little i liked wilbur better than orville for no reason.
today i tried to explain to jeff my fear of vastness. we are two sides of the feelings-re:-vastness coin, which you know it is comfortable to share a coin with someone, but we face out antipodeally into vastness & neither will ever be able to convince the other. is the thing with the coin confusing?
i said, "i can't be for example in kansas. unless i am indoors. or unless the buildings are tall & crowded in whatever passes for cities, in kansas."
watch this all go nowhere!
