one of the things i like best about the new house is that there is so much grass in this neighborhood. there is a school a couple of buildings down the street & i like knowing that i can go, whenever it strikes me, lie down on the lawn. i can't remember the last time i lay down on a lawn. it must have been at kenyon.

(mischka & jojo & i would lie down in the grass as dusk fell, just north of the chapel of the holy spirit, & watch the bats come out & swoop around. sometimes they flew so close that if you held up an arm you might have hit them. except if you really held up an arm, they would spook & swoop up very quickly higher into the air, to avoid you.)
