it's like every day i have to be reminded that my fingers tremble. & that they will continue throughout the day to do so. normally i have a heavy book in my hands to weigh them down so this is not a problem, but the other day i had to repair a seam & i could not control the needle.
fortunately circumstances in which i am called upon to control a needle + thread are rare indeed.
i just mention all of this because strangers tend to assume that i am calm. no. this chekhovian block of ice, this unassailable grammar � these are what weigh me down so that i am not one flailing tremorous diaphony, flailing & trembling about the �ther.
things i like that many people do not: ace of bass. pickled apricots. diamanda gal�s. bloody icky things about the insides of people. latin-tinged medical vocabulary words. very very small places. moby-dick.
things i do not like although many people do: talking to people. beer. asparagus. anne sexton. pierced navels. neil young. roller coasters.
for the record i wish i liked neil young. i can't think why i don't. i like his songs when other people sing them. normally i'm all a-swoon over unattractive men with weird alienish voices.
also i am the kind of person who will decide on sunday to make up a Packing Schedule delineating the week's house-packing-up activities in fairly precise detail (although there is some room for slight alterations in the plans). also i am the kind of person who, although she has not moved her house yet, has already planned both the graphic layout of the moving announcement & the dress she will wear at the housewarming party. she has (i have) also determined that she (i) will need to purchase some black strappy numbers at payless, to go with the dress. the dress meanwhile is hanging still in this closet here, nowhere near the new house.
