happy birthday
tec, last night the house next to mine caught fire. or maybe it just caught smoke, as
jeff & i couldn't actually see any flames, just lots & lots of smoke pouring out of the windows. there were three fire engines on the avenue & they all had crazy lights so that outside it was brighter than day & sort of like in the movies when the aliens finally land & we are ready for them so their arrival is well-lit.
unrelated to the fire/smoke, i stayed home from work today. i've promised myself i will actually sit down & study. have i mentioned however the clear-brightness of the sky today, the stack of novels sitting right here, the lure of magnolia's only four blocks away?
there was no one living in the house, by the way, but it's in the same row as the previous fire. i suspect a negligent landlord & electrical problems. bean suspects insurance fraud.
