dear science projects boy,
for christmas, bean had all her family's 8mm home movies (pel�culas) transferred to vhs. we kept the dvd copy as her familia doesn't have dvd. there are these long stretches of vacation in rancagua, chile, where her father is from, where everybody speaks in a low, quick, mumbly spanish.
in the movies there is this section where her father takes them out to the almond ranch. twenty-five years later it is sad to watch, knowing that he (her father) was betrayed by his business partner, that the almond ranch & the business are all but gone. there is very very tiny bean sitting on a horse, ignoring her mother who is just saying over & over, "mira, mira la c�mera."
bean's mom was hott, & her dad looked like bob newhart only chilean.
