 touch plants all day long

23.I.2003 ::: 18.06

yesterday i was telling jeff how much in my secret heart i want to be a botanist (i think this was after the explanation of the physiology of the fig). i pointed out that i would get to touch plants all day long, & that it would be pretty calm.

but then today mischka explained to me that classical botany is a thing of the past, unless you are trooping about in the rainforest (note: not calm), & that most botanists these days are genetic engineers.

so at least now i don't have to, you know, take out student loans to go back to school for a biology degree.

today was my day off & i spent it mainly doing nothing, unless you count reading half of the best american poetry 2002 as something. (i will confess that i bought this book solely because i heard that billy collins hated the selections in it, & i think billy collins is a waste of oxygen & of ink. poet laureate. bah.)
