sometimes i guess it's good to exercise those writing-morose-things kind of writing muscles.
then again as someone who hasn't finished a poem in more than a year, because she can't stand to put down a single word that is not perfect, is not (yeats's word) inevitable, i detest pretty much all usage of the phrase "writing muscles," although i suppose i would make an exception for the muscles in the hand & forearm.
when i was about two i memorized all the bones in the body, but i never got around to learning the names of the muscles. i had a life-sized paper skeleton with brads in all the joints hanging on my wall. i think i've always cared more about bone than about muscle.
all of this is a long-winded way to cover up that japan thing.
oh yes here is what i meant to say.
