it was supposed to snow this week, & it never did. it is just cold enough to have soup for dinner & tea every night before bed, but warm enough that i left my winter coat unbuttoned & flying-open as i walked to mass tonight.
for thanksgiving we did nothing. we rested. i made curried split-pea soup for dinner, bean made this pear-caramel pie-like thing for dessert.
today jojo came to work with me, to keep me company. the clinic was closed & i was just there to answer phones. we sat in dr b____'s office the whole day & watched the iron chef marathon & had indian take-out for lunch. for this i'm getting paid.
& everything is settled & i'm going to kentucky over christmas. this is good because i will get to spend crazy hours with my brother, & (i hope) have a chance to see jane-whom-i-never-see, & i will get to meet my parents' new dog hannah. but i will be there for three or four days, & that means three or four days of being-on-edge. fighting ghosts. also i will have to hope (fingers crossed) that someone can drive me out of town to go to mass three days in a row.
today is eleven-twenty-three. i had hoped to see mischka (speaking of old friends i never see anymore), because of the numbers, but we couldn't tear ourselves away.
