happy birthday gogo-baby!across the street from the greek orthodox church: i saw through the bus window this skinny brave ginkgo tree that is browning from the leaf-edges inward. dying of the dry heat. but not of the city air. i like that in a tree.
i am hopeful in a sick schadenfreude way that my famously loud coworker queenie (not her real name) will get her ass fired before i can count to twenty. she sort of disappeared today, during procedures, which is beyond dropping-the-ball & is beyond fucking-up.
& as i rode home from work i leaned my head on the window with her antilovesongs in my headphones & thought, now september is only one month away. & then i sat up straighter (a cinematic double-take! in real life) & told myself, that was last year & you are over that now & you are older now: shut up about it.
& then i got all sentimental & you could practically hear the orchestra in the background (although in my ears it was slant6) while i had these silly thoughts, which don't bear repeating, about Becoming An Adult, & How Having A Career Has Improved My Life.
& when i got off my bus i didn't even see the car wreck: that an SUV had crashed into the shelter at the bus stop just past mine. that there were police cars & fire vans, what bean calls el resquiu.
