 mashed-up baby food

27.VII.2001 :::: 19.08

last night i dreamt that addiest wrote me a letter in which she described, in loving minute detail, to what extent mischka had kept her up the night before, running the vacuum. the dream letter was blue ink on pale green paper. when i woke i didn't know what it meant.

do i now? no.

:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:

but today. is not last night. today we are making sundried tomato vegan ravioli for dinner with bee + beck. it is becoming something of a routine: having them over for delicious things while we watch iron chef because they do not have cable in their new house which they own.

the ravioli are sitting on a tray on top of the stove. the focaccia is resting in the un-hot oven. bean is just getting out of the shower.

it is very very nice now that my house is not so prohibitively hot that i am forbidden from turning on the oven.

not being allowed to turn on the oven is very bad when your main coping-with-evil mechanism is to bake, & then to eat what you have just baked. while this low pressure is still hovering over ohio, i should make the best of it. chocolate cake. zucchini bread (although the courgettes in the market are hit+miss). sugar cookies? maybe.

the sugar cookie recipe comes down from iceland, & has a Secret Ingredient in it, & my great-grandmother for whom i am named is probably rolling over in her grave, in hardin county kentucky, because i have taken the eggs out of her recipe, & put in mashed-up babyfood pears instead.
