 stand up so straight

8.VII.2001 :::: 18.12 san isaas

& by the way this morning as i was walking out of the church a woman came up to me & she said, "excuse me, i was sitting behind you during mass, & you have excellent posture. i thought: she sure does stand up so straight!"

i was afraid she was going to make some crass comment about my bad singing voice. i do have good posture. also i'm glad she wasn't going to hit on me.

yesterday at the bus stop there was an indie boy (too old to be a boy! but not dressed like a grown-up) who was just standing there & reading foucault through his indie-boy glasses. all around him people were arguing, riled by the heat, but he kept reading. really i think he was turning pages too quickly to be actually reading foucault, he seemed distracted, trying to block out the arguments about cigarettes & the minutes past the hour.
