i dreamt i went to the ocean with you where everything was grey. i wrapped my arms around you & rested my face against your skin.

you held your feet in the water. i kept to the sand but i clutched at you all the same.

you dipped your hand into the ocean & poured saltwater over my hair, my face.

i am not even that brave.
