last night at the outraged ladies' festival, which was held in a warehouse-turned-artists'-collective, one of the warehouse cats leapt into my lap & stayed there & it felt good to have an excuse to sit there & do nothing, cat in my lap, while all around me people were bustling to set up the mics & hang the lights for the artwork, & i just sat there with its ears between my fingers gently.
when the cat got up i danced around. kate + meredith covered groove is in the heart & i danced specifically to that, in the stage with beck & marybeth & a cute lavender-headed girl who looked like the lovechild of addie & annegoes.
:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:thursday: a gorgeous letter from sylvia which i read in the car on our way to knox county(!) where we saw erika's show & took jeffboy out to dinner. & neglected to look up most people.
what i decided while i was at kenyon. i think i want more distance. i want to go back when there is nobody i know walking around. i did not visit any of my favorite trees. i did not see the new physics building.
i did see a student sitting at the bottom of the spiral staircase in olin library, putting quotations on the wall. one of them said:
Hope is a thing with feathers.
 Sylvia Plath
& i smirked. she put that on the wall & it was wrong heehee.
:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:& tonight i am left to my own devices & i bet i will not go see frank black at little brother's. although i could.
today at work dr s________ was talking about Actresses He Likes & they were ladies like natalie wood, janet leigh, grace kelly. i actually said mmmmmmm grace kelly to dr s________, which is maybe a little bit crass.
