 pulling away from the winter

13.III.2001 :::: 10:43:07

last night slash this morning very bright light woke me up around 4.15 & i realized there was a thunderstorm outside. winter is almost over, kids, there was thunder + lightning. yesterday it was warmish & raining slightly, & this gorgeous humid smell came up off the sidewalk.

bean says this is the winter of the deep blue funk, when she's not saying this is the winter of hell. but i feel that the two of us are pulling ourselves out of it, into spring, & mostly i think we are doing this by cleaning (or gutting, whichever you'll have) the apartment. i'm sure that chris or jeff or becky could explain it better, this restructuring + repairing of the disordered world.

[[yes this is what i'm doing for Lent. not just for tikkun olam. but also because laborare orare est.]]

& of course mischka will scoff at what i've just said, because he believes in entropy. not just in the he-is-a-physicist way but more reverently. he even told me saturday, he has faith in entropy.

    i told him, "I've forgiven Luke."
    he said (among other things), "You have a lot of strength to do this."
    i said, "It wasn't just me."
    [pause]
    i told him, "You have no faith."
    he said, "i have faith in entropy."

which of course isn't the same at all. but it was something at least.

  1. we are going to yellow springs today: bean & me & mischka. the best things about yellow springs are comic books & boots & ha-ha's pizza.
  2. more cleaning to do before we go!
  3. you've got to see this, oh joy joy joy.
